Turkey on Saturday dispatched an oil exploration vessel to conduct 3D offshore seismic studies off the coast of Somalia,in a ceremony presided over by Turkish president recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Somali minister of petroleum and energy abdirisak omar Mohamed said it was a monumental day for both Somalia and turkey as “Oruc Reis seismic ship embarked from stanvul to mogadishu to conduct 3D Seismic on offshore somalia.”
“I am very grateful to participate in the farewell ceremony with H.E president (Erdogan)” he added.
Turkey has recently entered into several agreements with Somalia,wich include a maritime defense pact and plans for offshore oil drilling,however the specifics of these deals have not been made public.
