The special representative of the African union chairperson to Somalia and the head of ATMIS mohamed el amin souef said on Sunday the al qa,eda linked alshabab is growingly resilient and retains the ability to conduct large scale attacks.
“The threat of alshabab remains unpredictable. The recent complex attack on somali security forces in El-Der,galmudug region and the mortar attack on the ATMIS camp in baidoa, southwest state is a reminder to us that alshabab remains resilient,”souef told the UN secutiy council.
“The group still retains the ability to conduct devastating attacks, including employing asymmetric tactics organizing complex operations on civilian and security targets.”
